A crash landing off the Isle of Guernsey leaves the protagonist with amnesia. He meets Rebecca, a German refugee, the girl he will later marry, only to forget her when he recovers his memory during a German air raid.

He returns to England via submarine carrying a map of the German positions, then rejoins his squadron where he reunites with Flying Officer Wilson his mentor in time to help provide air cover during the Battle of Britain.

New recurring characters include Angelique and her very sexy mother on the Isle of Guernsey, Inspector Moyle of Scotland Yard, his driver Dorothy, and his son Flying Officer Moyle.
